??? This article has not yet received a rating on the importance scale.

I took off the quotation marks on each occurrence after the first of Mr Young's public name. Note that Julius Henry Marx is not consistently referred to as "Groucho", but simply as Groucho.

  • Good idea. --MatthewUND July 8, 2005 06:59 (UTC)

Somebody wrote here that Dagwood works as a webmaster for the J.C. Dithers company. Can anyone corroborate this??? It's the first I've heard of it. From what I've seen, Dagwood just does some highly unspecific work with "contracts" (when he does any work at all), which is in keeping with the tradition of ultra-vague work skills of fictional dads going back at least to Ozzie Nelson and Ward Cleaver.

If someone else could substantiate or disprove the webmaster claim, you'd be doing a great public service ... Brykmantra 05:07, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Here are two non-Wikipedia sources that say Dagwood is a webmaster. The first was one of my main sources writing the original version of this article. The second was actually published the previous day:
What I don't have is an actual comic strip in which Dagwood is referred to as a webmaster, which would be ideal. I mean, if we don't hold claims about comic strip characters to rigorous standards of proof, then I ask you, my fellow Wikipedians, who will? Indeed. I'll keep working on it. The truth is, after all, out there. GTBacchus 16:23, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

check out my edit to the Dagwood sandwich page; they are opening a chain! ~tiro

[edit] Clearwater, Florida

Blondie takes place in clearwater florida, should this be mentioned (revealed when one of the characters went to the DMV and a sign in the back said city of clearwater in the crest)--Aaronpark 14:51, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Clearwater, yes, but Florida? I can confirm Clearwater from a May 3, 2008 strip in which Dagwood returns a book to the Clearwater Public Library. If Clearwater is like other municipalities, you have to live in the municipality in order to borrow books from its library. GBC (talk) 16:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia section

I've removed a trivia section a few times now, and it's been re-submitted by an anonymous editor. The reason I keep taking it out is that it apparently violates our Wikipedia:No original research policy. We can't include our own observations about Blondie in this article; the idea is that our information here is based on what's available in external published sources, such as http://www.toonopedia.com/blondie.htm and http://www.kingfeatures.com/features/comics/blondie/about.htm and http://www.virtuemag.org/articles/blondie-celebrates-75-years. I thought I'd post an explanation here, since I've removed the same content three times now. -GTBacchus(talk) 07:04, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] charatcher switch?

  • Dagwood Bumstead father and his mother faded out of the comic strip-only to be brought back as J.C. Dithers and his wife Cora? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.53.145.150 (talk) 13:44, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Blondie logo.png

Image:Blondie logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
