Talk:Bis (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Don't forget "bis" is a term used in chemistry meaning the presence of two identical complex groups found separated in one molecule
- And that will go great on its own page, not Bis the band's page. --Ekaiyu 02:43, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Capitalization issue
Should the name of the band be capitalized? The band tends to spell it with a lowercase "b". 12.22.250.4 19:09, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- I was also unsure, but I reckon if you can find some kind of source or evidence that they were called "bis", then I just figure we should keep it as is--Anklepants 05:10, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bis
Bis as in 2 or more bisexuals or bis as in encore? Pliny 17:12, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
I remember reading (can't remember where, though), that it's for encore. They took the name from Manchester band The Fall's video Perverted by Language bis.
It stand for "Black Iron Skyline", a former band of John and Steven. Manda explained that on her Flickr page.
- Does it rhyme with "lies" or "this" ?
- It rhymes with "this," as in the intro to the song "Sweet Shop Avengerz" one of them says "Hello we are Bis from Glasgow, Scotland." (and it rhymes with "this.") --Ekaiyu 10:56, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] YouTube links
This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 05:06, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Interactive
The article contains the line "About a year later, they appeared on Top of the Pops performing Kandy Pop from their Secret Vampire Soundtrack EP ahead of its release, widely reported (even to the present day) as the first such appearance by an unsigned act."
To my mind this implies that Bis was not the first unsigned act to appear on Top of the Pops. But it could also imply that the band remains, to the present day - and presumably ever, because the show has finished - the only unsigned act to appear on Top of the Pops. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Was Bis the first unsigned band to perform a song on Top of the Pops? Were they beaten by Suede? -Ashley Pomeroy 20:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Surely they were signed to Chemical Underground when they played on TOTP?
- Nope. The source is here [1]. All Music Guide is definitely a reputable source. Doc Strange 15:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
