Bishop of Kildare
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bishop of Kildare was the head of the diocese of Kildare, a historical Roman Catholic diocese that existed from the legendary time of Conláed ua hEimri (Saint Conleth) until it was merged with the diocese of Leighlin in 1694.
After the episcopate of Walter Wellesley (1529 1539), there was a parallel set of bishop in the Church of Ireland later merged with that Church's diocese of Meath. For those bishops, see Bishop of Meath and Kildare.
