Bishop George Ahr High School

Bishop George Ahr High School, also known as Bishop Ahr, Ahr or BGA, is a four-year, private, coeducational Roman Catholic high school located on a thirty-six acre campus in the northern section in Edison, New Jersey. It is a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen, which is headed by Bishop Paul G. Bootoski.
The school opened in 1969 as St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and was renamed for Bishop George Ahr in 1984.
Students come from Middlesex, Union, Monmouth, and Somerset Counties in Central New Jersey. The current enrollment is 1,000 students.
The administration and teaching faculty are composed of Felician Sisters and lay people. All 70 faculty members hold a B.S. or B.A. degree; a significant percentage have M.A.'s and some hold a Ph.D. Bishop George Ahr High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the New Jersey Department of Education.

The Bishop George Ahr High School Trojans compete in the Greater Middlesex Conference, comprising 33 public and private high schools located in the greater Middlesex County area. The league operates under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.
For three consecutive seasons, 1984-1986, the football team was the South Jersey Parochial A State Champions.[citation needed]
The wrestling team won the 2007 NJSIAA Non-Public, South B state championship with a 46-27 win over Holy Cross High School.[1]
The 2006 baseball team won the Non-Public, South A sectional championship over St. Augustine College Preparatory School, 16-15.[2]
The Swim team won the Greater Middlesex Conference for the 3rd year in a row (2005,2006,2007.)
Corey Francisco is Bishop Ahr's all-time leading scorer in basketball racking up 1,596 points in 4 years from 2003-2007.

- Ed Kalegi, Voice Actor/Narrator/Host/Actor. Public Address Announcer for both the New York Yankees' minor league team in Staten Island as well as the New Jersey Ironmen of the MISL. Voice Actor in the motion picture Sugar, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 and will be released nationwide in the Summer of 2008.

- Kevin Mulvey, drafted by the New York Mets as their first pick in the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.[3]

- Corey Francisco, Bishop Ahr's all time leading point scorer in basketball[1], future player for Philadelphia University on a full athletic scholarship.
- Phillip Humber, pitcher for the Minnesota Twins. Was traded to the Twins in the Johan Santana trade.
