Bin Laden (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bin Laden (song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Bin Laden", also known as 'Tell The Truth', is a hip hop song by MC Immortal Technique and DJ Green Lantern. It features guest appearances from Mos Def and Eminem (the latter only included on the mixtape version).

The song was recorded in 2004 but was not released until the summer of 2005. The 12" vinyl single also featured a remix by the same artists, adding hip hop legends Chuck D of Public Enemy and KRS-One.

With lyrics "Bin Laden didn't blow up the projects, it was you" and "Bush knocked down the towers" some believe Immortal Technique to be a 911 conspiracy theorist. Although, these lyrics are not the rantings of a conspiracy theorist who thinks George Bush was actually involved in the acts of 9/11, but is Immortal Technique recognising that the neo-con policies of the US administration are what led to the terrorist acts, and also the huge attacks they've inflicted on the working population of the US.[1]

[edit] Lyrics

The song, whose lyrics imply that George W. Bush and previous Republican administrations were largely responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks, was received critically given its controversial chorus theme "Bush knocked down the towers", sampled from the song "Why?" by Jadakiss.

Immortal Technique raps: "Bush funded al-Qaeda, and now they blame the Muslim religion, even though bin Laden was a CIA tactician, they gave him billions of dollars, and they funded his purpose, Fahrenheit 9/11, that's just scratchin' the surface." In another line, Immortal Technique raps: "And of course Saddam Hussein had chemical weapons. We sold him that shit, after Ronald Reagan's election."

The song briefly samples Eminem's 2004 song "We As Americans," which features the line "I don't rap for dead presidents / I'd rather see the president dead / It's never been said, but I set precedents.", as well as Eminem's verse in the Get Rich or Die Tryin' track "Patiently Waiting", which features the line "Shady Records was eighty seconds away from the towers, some cowards fucked with the wrong building, they meant to hit ours."
