Big Timber Road is a commuter railroad station in Elgin, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. It is the western terminus for Metra's Milwaukee District/West Line, with service to Union Station in downtown Chicago.
When it opened in 1986, the surrounding area mostly consisted of farmland. Since then, numerous residential subdivisions have been built. Average ridership is about 600. [1]
Big Timber Road presently does not have service on weekends. There are 20 inbound trains a day, Monday through Friday. Travel time to Union Station ranges from 1 hour, 9 minutes to 1 hour, 27 minutes, depending on the train.
