Talk:Ben Manski

Hi there - Don't know whether it's considered kosher for folks to edit their own pages, but I figured I'd correct the record a little here relating to my past work. I'm honored that you all took an interest. - Ben

[edit] Self-promotion
This article clearly violates the Wiki policy on biographies of living persons. The tone is laudatory rather than neutral and the bio subject only barely warrants a page. Assuming the article can be purged of blatant self-promotion, I won't move for its deletion. But using one's Wiki page as a resume, complete with "media appearances," steps over the line. 219.79.84.106 03:48, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
---> I did not have anything to do with this entry being created and have not been editing it. I assume that whoever started the entry copied information from materials that are available online elsewhere. Please don't jump to (false) conclusions. Thank you - Ben
Sorry, but your note above mentions "correcting the record," so the conclusion that you'd edited the page as your personal resume was a reasonable one. In any case, although the tone is still borderline for a living subject, I can live with it as is. But please: whoever is injecting material like "media appearances" and other information designed primarily to promote Manksi's public persona and commercial/political viability, there are better places than Wiki for this. (Moreover, from what I know about Greens in Wisconsin, there's a lot of sensitivity about how individual leaders use their time in the spotlight. You're probably not helping Manski or the Greens much by dressing up his Wiki page Burson-Marsteller style.) 219.79.93.254 (talk) 03:37, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
