[edit] Dr. Eddie Lawrence
Hi, Congrats on your recent elevation to adminship. You may want to closely read the Criteria for Speedy Deletion. Criterion A7 merely requires an assertion of notability. This article has that. (publishing multiple books is an assertion of notability) I removed the speedy tag when, as an admin, I was clearing the CSD backlog and determined that this article was incorrectly tagged and removed the tag. This is the "proper procedure". The references and notability tags are apropriate. Since this article is not eligible for speedy deletion under A7, if you feel that this article should be deleted, you may use Proposed deletion or AfD. Also, please note that it is usual practice to place speedy tags at the top of the article. Dsmdgold 03:18, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for your participation in my successful RfA, which passed with a tally of (44/10/5)[1]. Whether you supported, opposed or were neutral in my RfA, I appreciate your participation and I hope that we can continue to work together to build a stronger and better Wikipedia. | |

[edit] Proprietary College
Sorry about that, wasn't sure it looked right as for the merger. Didn't realize that for-profit and proprietary colleges differed that much. I wondered why there were two categories. Could you tell me some of the differences to satisfy my insatiable curiosity? Mysteryquest 02:33, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] agreement
we're almost up to 1.5% agreement - I just checked back on some of my afd's to see how flamebait they were. :-) Congrats again on admin-ness. Carlossuarez46 04:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Portugalicia
Actually, there are "places" named like this. I've been to Galicia this afternoon and I actually saw a snack bar there right after the border whose name was "Portugalicia". Same for a fish market near Chaves. These obviously don't merit any inclusion on Wikipedia. There are no actual locations with this name, it's just a cheap neologism. Regards, Húsönd 18:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Winkle club
You know, I think you may be right. I've done some digging and found some references to add to the page. Would you have any objection to my removing the CSD tag I placed? --Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 20:21, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's a strange article, for sure. I don't think it adds any more value to the encyclopedia than Hastings already does. If the article had more (or any, really) useful information, I would suggest merging it with Hastings, but I don't think that deleting it would be detrimental. What do you think? --Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 20:30, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hastings old town
Heh, well that one is gone. If someone wants to add information on Hastings Old Town into the Hastings article, there's plenty of resources available on the web to go by. I don't think we lost anything crucial. What do you think about the Old town week article. You have me thinking that maybe instead of AFD, it should be revised and have Hastings Old Town Carnival merged into it (Since the carnival is part of the week long festival). Comments? --Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 20:37, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 22551 Adamsolomon
haha! Thank you for looking out, and I understand the conflict of interest, but the page actually already existed (thanks to bots, I think) on several foreign language Wiki sites, and many other asteroids of equal astronomical importance also have their own pages. The pages are particularly useful because they list data that's not very easy to find elsewhere. So I understand how it would look fro afar but I do think the page serves a purpose and has a precedent :) AdamSolomon 20:59, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Raëlian history and beliefs
Hi Bearian. Could you add something either on the Talk page or at WP:COIN as to why you believe Kmarinas86 has a COI? He disclosed some of his background over at COIN, and seems to be a dedicated article-improver, judging from his GA work. EdJohnston 04:50, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Witness box/witness stand
I just stumbled across an old "merge" you proposed in June 07 to merge Witness box into witness stand. Absolutely no responses, and really no difference between the two (like boot and trunk, really). I say, just merge/redirect, no one seems to mind. They are the same thing... What do you think? Keeper | 76 20:25, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

[edit] RFA
Thanks for the message - but a couple of afd's I closed you had expressed delete sentiments so maybe we're up to a couple of percentage points :-). I noticed you have a deletion page, btw, you probably already know that deletion logs can be found on the logs button on the left side of the page. I guess I've deleted a few thousand things already. Yikes. Been overturned on 3 or 4 at DRV, and had my user page vandalized a bunch of times but that goes with the territory. Keep up the good work (yes, you've been doing a good job as far as I can tell). Carlossuarez46 20:55, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Closing AfDs
When closing AfDs, please be sure to place the {{at}} tag above the section header so Mathbot will recognize the closure of the discussion. I've fixed the placement here. [edit] Christian Wrestling Federation
Just out of curiosity, this new documentary Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi was released to DVD this week with several minutes of coverage about the Christian Wrestling Federation. Would this help the 'non-notable' issues you mentioned on my talk page? Just trying to get a better grasp on the Wikipedia phenom... Jdblundell 15:41, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Yes, nothing in that article mentioned the CWF. I would have added something but I didn't want to add it and have it be confused as vanity or something. Here's the summary of the DVD from Amazon.com:
In Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi, intrepid roving reporter/tour guide Pelosi takes viewers on an entertaining road trip into the red-state heartland of America, chronicling the leaders and followers who comprise the booming evangelical Christian movement. Traveling to the states that helped elect and re-elect George Bush, Pelosi meets up with a dizzying array of outspoken and upbeat evangelicals: from TV celebrities like Joel Osteen, Jerry Falwell and Ted Haggard, to the leaders of groups like the Christian Wrestling Federation and Cruisers for Christ (a car club), to regular folk committed to carrying out the Creationist messages plastered on billboards throughout the Bible Belt. [edit] AIV
HI. I am not an admin but in my opinion, and what I've seen in the past, you did good by blocking for an hour. Your report to AIV was added (see here} but then you blocked him so it was automatically removed (see here). - Rjd0060 00:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- I was just going to add the header (I forgot) but you already did. Sorry about that. - Rjd0060 00:50, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, honestly, I have never really thought about RfA. I just enjoy doing the work I do. I will admit, this is the first time that somebody has been "impressed by me" for my work here. Thanks! - Rjd0060 00:54, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My recent RfA
I am sorry you felt it necessary not to support my RfA at this time. As you probably know, my RfA did not succeed. I will attempt to get some more experience and diversify myself before applying again in two month's time. I hope I will have allayed your concerns by then, but if not, feel free to comment the way you feel you should. As a side note: I do have a lot of community participation, but I prefer to communicate via IRC, if possible. Since many users are on IRC, the ones that I generally need to communicate are on IRC and so I can just leave them a message there. Thank you for participating in my RfA. -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 18:34, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Appreciate the support, and the time you took to read my answers over thoroughly. Hope it wasn't too verbose! Also, got your message at my talk page. Excellent place to spot vandalism. Another thanks. Cheers! Wisdom89 21:28, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Asclepigenia
I put the {{orphan}} tag back on this page. The article needs to have incoming links from other articles before it can be taken down. Project pages and user pages don't count toward this. Geozapf 02:21, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Arthur Dixon
Answering your question from last month, I personally think there are notability issues with this subject, but there has been precedent in the past for all elected officials to be considered notable. Geozapf 02:21, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] AfD
Hi, I'm sorry, but I don't feel particularly "consensused" by the debate you closed, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Command Carrier. Seemed more like a keep by no consensus to me. SolidPlaid 03:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- No worries, the outcome would be the same. But AfD is not decided on votes, but on the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments made. Take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Dresden Files (role-playing game) for an example of an AfD for which the minority position may well be correct.
