[edit] Adding citations to accountant firing paragraph
I have moved this original paragraph to the talk area because it contained no citations or easily accessed references online...and it looks like they do exist. The Wall Street Journal article required a subscription to view the full article (including the quote listed in the main page article), and there were other sources available via Bloomberg and the SEC website that provided pretty much the same info. I edited the main page paragraph to reflect the sources that were available to the casual reader...I don't think the spokesperson quote is significant or exclusive enough (i.e. saying anything beyond what a company's first response would typically be) to keep without citation, but since it seems to be (so far) the only official response, I'm tagging it for citation as a reminder instead of removing it.
"On June 28, 2007, Beazer Homes said announced that it fired its chief accounting officer for attempting to destroy documents. The move comes as Beazer faces probes into its mortgage practices. Beazer disclosed the firing of Michael Rand in a regulatory filing, the Wall Street Journal and other news agencies reported on June 28, 2007. The Wall Street Journal said Rand, 44 and a 10-year Beazer veteran, could not be reached for comment. "We have informed the U.S. attorney's office and the SEC about this issue," Beazer spokeswoman Leslie Kratckoski told the Wall Street Journal. She said an internal investigation by the company's audit committee, assisted by independent legal counsel, continues." Flowanda 00:31, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Some balance please
I created this article earlier this year because it was a Fortune 500 company and a major home builder/financier. But what this page has primarily become is a documentation of all the trouble it's in. I'm not saying that the "2007 Investigations and Litigation" section isn't true, but it just seems too long as compared to other articles on companies that come under investigation. --Oakshade 23:13, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Absolutely agreed. Tagging for NPOV review and will try to take a closer look as soon as I can. Feel free to jump in; to me this seems to need a lot of work on NPOV. Panchitavilletalk 04:40, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
