[edit] Orson Welles hoax

Mazzucchelli and Miller based Bruce Wayne's facial appearance on actor Gregory Peck. Miller has confirmed this in homage to the actor, as Orson Welles wanted to direct a Batman film back in 1946, with Peck appearing as the Dark Knight.

The supposed Welles/Peck project is a hoax perpetrated by comics writer Mark Millar. See here for details.
