The Battle of the Treasury Islands was fought from October 25 to November 12, 1943, between Allied and Japanese forces in the Solomon Islands. New Zealand forces, supported by United States forces, invaded the Treasury Islands. They successfully recaptured the islands, from heavily outnumbered Japanese soldiers. The invasion was the first amphibious assault for New Zealand troops after the Gallipoli landings of 1915.
