[edit] Population Surge?
What's the deal with Barre's population? According to the 2006 World Almanac (and 2005 and 2004), as well as numerous sources on the Internet, its population was about 5,000 in the early 2000s, and about 1,000 in 1990. This is an increase in population of fivefold??? I know rural towns are growing fast, but not THAT fast. Yet I cannot find any source of explanation for this. --FreshTurkeySandwich 03:46 March 24, 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Population "Surge"
I am from Barre and my parents still live there. I can't account for the 1,000 people in 1990 figure that you cited, but it's wrong. I'm pretty sure there have been about 5,000 people there for the past few decades. It was about 5,000 in 1984 when I first moved there; probably about 5,000 in 1990; and is around 5,000 now.Cwoodw1 20:27, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

"South Barre, Massachusetts" redirects here (I created it; it appears on Google Maps), but is not explained in the article. A list of neighborhoods would be a start. -- Beland (talk) 09:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
