[edit] Classification
Should this article be classified under Category:Banks of Hong Kong or Category:Foreign banks in Hong Kong?--Huaiwei 13:07, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- It depends on its ownership structure. So far I haven't found out any materials revealing its ownership. What I can recall is that Standard Chartered Hong Kong was a shareholder of BOCHK. — Instantnood 14:06, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC)
- It is a subsidiary of the Bank of China, and this alone makes is a qualifying candidate as a "foreign bank in Hong Kong". In terms of ownership, the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited is 100% owned by BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited, which is 65.8% owned by BOC Hong Kong (BVI) Limited. 34.04% of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited is owned by public shareholders (its a listed company afterall), while the remaining 0.15% is owned by associated companies of the Bank of China under Bank of China Limited. BOC Hong Kong (BVI) Limited is in turn 100% owned by BOC Hong Kong (Group) Limited, which is 100% owned by Bank of China Limited, and which is 100% owned by the Central Huijin Investment Company Limited, a company which acts in the direct interests of the government in the People's Republic of China.--Huaiwei 15:05, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. Then it qualifies I guess. By the way, do you have any information how much of its operations or profits of the entire group is in/from Hong Kong? — Instantnood 17:21, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC)
- I posted an update of the Chinese government's ownership of the BOC, which affects the ownership of BOCHK. See the BOC page too Jazza 16:00, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bank of China Group
In the section History/Bank of China Group is mentioned that 14 banks were rebranded as part of the Bank of China Group. What are these 14 banks? Thank you for your answer. --Christian NurtschTM 20:48, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:BOCHKHOLD.gif
Image:BOCHKHOLD.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:48, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
