[edit] Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company

The Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is a Washington, DC-based professional theatrical performance company. Formed in 1981 by Howard Shalwitz and [that other guy], Woolly Mammoth has long described its mission as fostering the development of new plays and supporting the work of talented new playwrights. In recent years, Woolly Mammoth has produced world premieres of plays by Sarah Ruhl, Josh Lefkowitz and Ian Cohen.

In 2005, Woolly Mammoth opened a new, permanent facility in Washington's revitalized Penn Quarter section. Designed by McInturff Architects, the facility has garnered five architectural awards, including the AIA Institute Honor Award for Interior Architecture[1].
