The Auckland oyster, Crassostrea glomerata, is a species of bivalve mollusc of the family Ostreidae, endemic to the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand. They are found on rocks in the upper mid-tidal zone, but are being outcompeted by the Pacific oyster.
The shell is solid and of variable shape since they crowd together in a narrow zone. The sides of the left, or lower valve, is strongly corrugated, the margin deeply lobed, with thin and sharp edges. The exterior is dark violet, and the interior is whitish with a dark violet border. Width is up to about 80 mm.
