Athinaio or Athineo (Greek:, Modern: Αθήναιο, Ancient/Katharevousa: -ον -on), older form: -on, also with an a accented. is a Greek village in the westcentral part of the Arcadia prefecture. Athinaio is in the municipal district of Athinaio and the municipality of Valtetsi. Athinaio had a 2001 population of 149 for the village and 183 for the municipal district. Athinaio is also connected with the road linking the GR-7/E65 (Corinth - Tripoli - Kalamata) 2 km south of the village with two accesses.

Athinaio is situated in a valley area separated from the rest of the villages. The mountains dominate much of the area and it contains plenty of valleys and streams and grasslands along with barren lands to the east, the forests dominate the western and the central portions. Farmlands are within the village area The mountains are also around the area.

The village used to have a large population before the beginning of the 20th century. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the population began to decline as residents moved to larger towns and cities and outside of Greece. The population lost since that time, the population lost by half between 1981 and 2001. The Alfeios is 3 km to the south.

Its main industry are agriculture. Its main production are olives, citrus, fruits, vegetables and other crops, several common crops are rarely common.
Athintio thas several rural roads and approximately 4 km of hydro lines and roads, it also has approximately 8 km of rural roads.
The origin of the name dates back to the ancient times, the ancient settlement is located nearby the modern Athinaio. It is mainly named after Athenaeum. It was known as Alyka or Alika until the early to mid 20th century.
Its residential houses and buildings are within the main road and it is about 200 to 300 m long wide at the centre. Much of the houses were stone built until the 1970s. Electricity arrived in the same year. Vehicles arrived in the 1970s, the pavement of the main road and television arrived in the 1980s and computer and internet are rarely known in the beginning of the 21st century and up to date technology are not seen.

Athinaio has a church, and a square (plateia), its nearest school is in Athinaio and lyceum (middle school) and gymnasium (secondary school) are in Asea.
