Asa Charlton (born 7 December 1977 in Bridgnorth) is an English footballer. His position is left-back, and he is on the books of Conference North club AFC Telford United.
Charlton was a late starter in the professional game. He joined Mansfield, his first full-time professional club in November 2006. Prior to joining the Stags, Charlton has played for a variety of non-league clubs in the West Midlands area. He began his career in the Kidderminster Harriers youth team, and later played for Willenhall Town and a brief spell at Telford United. He then spent a year in the United States at the Coastal Carolina University, where he studied computer science on a soccer scholarship. He returned to Britain after one year, and completed his degree at the University of Wolverhampton, where he represented the British Universities football team.
After leaving university, he played part-time for Rushall Olympic, Stourport Swifts, Worcester City, Halesowen Town and finally Redditch United, before getting his first taste of professional football shortly before his 29th birthday. He was released by Mansfield in May 2007 before signing for AFC Telford shortly after on the 25th May.
