Arturo Woodman

Arturo Woodman Pollit (born October 16, 1931 in Piura) is a Peruvian engineer and politician. He was National Unity's candidate for First Vice President at the 2006 Peruvian national election, running along Lourdes Flores.
He is a renowned person in Peru, having successfully led the organization of the 2004 Copa América and the 2005 U-17 World Championship. However, his ties with powerful bankers and his past involvement in Alberto Fujimori's administration, often seen as corrupt and authoritarian, were exploited by Flores's opponents, who labeled her as the "candidate of the rich" and part of the "failed traditional political class". He descends from British immigrants.
