Arsenal Street (traditional Chinese: 軍器廠街; simplified Chinese: 军器厂街; pinyin: Jūnqìchǎng Jiē; Cantonese Yale: gwan1 hei3 chong2 gaai1) is a street between Admiralty of Central and Wan Chai in Hong Kong. It ends south in Queensway and north Gloucester Road. The street is the ends of Lockhart Road and Jaffe Road.
[edit] History
The street is named after the arsenal in a barracks of British Army in Hong Kong. One of the early streets in the Victoria City, it is also the boundary between Central and Wan Chai. The site of the barracks was later transferred to Hong Kong Government and became Arsenal House and Caine House, the headquarters of Hong Kong Police Force.
