[edit] Requested move

Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria → Princess Marie Astrid of Belgium – Although the wife of a member of the former ruling family of Austria-Hungary whose title is recognized in Belgium, Marie Astrid is best known as a Princess of Belgium because she is the only daughter of the reigning King of the Belgians, thus WP Naming Conventions call for use of that style.Lethiere 00:52, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria → Princess Marie Astrid of Luxembourg – Although the wife of a member of the former ruling family of Austria-Hungary whose title is recognized in Luxembourg, Marie Astrid is best known as a Princess of Luxembourg because she is the elder sister of one of Europe's few reigning monarchs, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, thus WP Naming Conventions call for use of that style.Lethiere 22:25, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

*Pages on princesses whose primary reason for being listed in an encyclopedia is their kinship to a monarchy's royal family should be identified as such when, as in this case, that is also where most people would expect to find her listed. Although her husband's traditional archducal title is constitutionally recognized in Belgium, he was also granted the title of "Prince of Belgium" in 1995, re-enforcing the fact that his wife (and issue) are primarily known by their Belgian royal title inside Belgium as well as abroad.

:WP titles of other living married females of reigning families vary erratically, but moving this article would increase consistency by bringing it into conformity with the styles for Princess Benedikte of Denmark, Princess Nora of Liechtenstein, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, Princess Astrid of Norway, and Infanta Elena of Spain. Although her husband's traditional archducal title is recognized in Luxembourg, it stems from his membership in an illustrious, but dethroned dynasty.

Not to throw cold water over this discussion, but this Marie Astrid is the daughter of Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and the late Josephine-Charlotte of Belgium. I believe the Astrid you are looking for is at Princess Astrid, Archduchess of Austria-Este, which had Princess Astrid of Belgium as a redirect. Prsgoddess187 11:21, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the correction! I did indeed mix up these "Astrid" cousins, who are both married to Archdukes of Austria -- although the same premise applies to both. Now, how to correct? Lethiere 21:19, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Good question. I am not sure how well known this Marie Astrid is. The best way to handle the WP:RM is to remove the request for this move, and list the correct one. Prsgoddess187 21:56, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
The naming conventions require that consorts have the title of their spouse. After their death they revert to maiden name. As the Archduchess is alive, it follows that the current correct title is Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 22:11, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
