The Appleton School is a secondary school located in Benfleet, Essex, England. It currently accomondates 1,180 students from school years 7 to 11, and roughly 50 teachers. The current headteacher is Mrs K. Kerridge who has been in charge for little over 3 years after replacing the retired Mr G. Naylor.

In 2003 the school achieved Business and Enterprise College status, they have also achieved other numerous awards in recent years including becoming a National Pathfinder School for Enterprise, Sportsmark, Artsmark Silver, Investor in People Status and Recognition of Quality Award.
The school has recently finished an OFSTED inspection.
The Appleton School done exceedingly well in the OFSTED inspection. Being the only school in its local area to get any outstandings.
At the end of last year James Dean and Melanie Lindsey were elected Head Boy and Head Girl taking over from Thomas Emmett and Emma Keep. The position was decided over a vote from the students. Sam Burge and Lewis Lorkins are the School's Deputy Head Boys along with Helen Argent and Jenna Rigg as the School's Deputy Head Girls.
Sam Burge is apart of the United Kingdom Youth Parliament, and is the representative for our local area.
At Appleton a Peer Listeners scheme is run by Mrs Williams and Ms Clark. The Peer Listeners are a group of students who are available for students in the school to talk to, if they are down. It helps prevent bullying.
