Are the Chinese lyrics (from the Indiana Jones movie) in Mandarin or Cantonese? The article states Mandarin but the reference link states Cantonese. Robotmannick 01:50, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I tried, it's been a long time since I've seen a production, couldn't rely entirely on memory. My references are the Tams-Witmark synopsis and a few reviews.JeanColumbia 00:54, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Just to clarify: there are 2 sets of Chinese characters--Ling and Ching, and John and Luke; there is one real minister (Dobson) and one pretending to be (Moonface). This leads to mistaken identities.JeanColumbia 11:06, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reference for Lindsay & Crouse, Morro Castle, etc

I've given a reference for part of the history, where the producer brings in Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse to re-write the script because of the "Morro Castle" tragedy. That book does not confirm that Freedley was living on a boat, etc. But another book does, thus my reference for the Cole Porter bio. The Cole Porter book says that Freedley was in the Pacific Ocean, near the Pearl Islands, not in Panama. So, I deleted Panama but did not add the Pacific Ocean--does it matter?

Russel Crouse also wrote a very amusing piece for the New York Times around the time of the opening in 1934, also confirming that he and Linday were brought in to re-write because of the Morro Castle. He also wrote that they had just a few weeks to re-write. I think that pretty much confirms the timing, since the Morro Castle sank in mid-September 1934 and Anything Goes opened in mid-November. The statement before the song list : "Songs in the original musical are, in this order".

I think (it's not my style to try to read someone else's mind, but ..) this list came from this site: http://www.stlyrics.com/a/anythinggoes.htm

The list as written combines songs from the 1934 original production and songs from the 1987 production. Three items: 1) the sentence opening this section doesn't make much sense to me, since some of these songs were not in the original (1934) production; 2) should we attempt to show which songs were added for the 1987 production? This certainly would be more accurate, if perhaps a bit unwieldly; 3) where does the song "Take Me Back to Manhattan" fit in? OK, I see that this song was added in the 1962 off-Broadway production. I'm out of time right now, will visit this ater tonight or tomorrow.JeanColumbia 16:45, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I added info. about which production the new songs come from. My reference is the Internet Broadway Database plus the Tams-Witmark synopsis, plus, in the text, the book " The Complete Lyrics of Cole Porter" on google books.
