Not sure of the context of that, but I'd love to see implementation detail -- e.g., who does this for what :)
Question: Was anycast part of TCP/IP from the beginning, or was it added later (if so, when?)? 81.82.136.176 20:22, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- As I understand it, it's more a question of the routing protocol in use, rather than TCP/IP itself. BGP4's article says that it has been the standard routing protocol since 1994. I don't know whether its predecessor protocols, like EGP, supported this, but I think they must have. (All it takes it having multiple routers announce that they are good destinations for a given IP; then any nearby traffic will be routed to them.) --kundor (talk) 21:29, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
