Anthony Barnett is a British journalist, campaigner and author. He was the first director of Charter 88 from 1988 to 1994 and has consistently advocated a written constitution, electoral reform and a Bill of Rights for the UK. He was the founder of openDemocracy, a web magazine dedicated to global politics which began in 2001. He has recently launched OurKingdom, the British blog of openDemocracy dedicated to discussing democracy, rights, constitutional reform and national/identity issues in the UK. He is the author of Iron Britannia (1982), Soviet Freedom (1987), This Time (1998)
