Antero Flores Aráoz

Ántero Flores Aráoz Esparza is a Peruvian lawyer and politician. He is a member of National Unity.
He studied in the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. In 2004 he was elected President of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, the only opposition Congress President during the presidency of Alejandro Toledo. As of 2007 he is serving as Defense Minister of Peru as well. Nowadays he serves as Ambassador for the Americas for the International Parliament for Safety and Peace, an international organization for the promotion of world peace based in Palermo, Italy.
He attended the funeral of Pope John Paul II.
He has been critizised for controversal comments throughout his political career.
