Angola-Israel relations, primarily based on trade and pro-United States foreign policies, are excellent. In March 2006, the trade volume between the two countries amounted to $400 million. The Israeli ambassador to Angola is Avraham Benjamin.[1] In 2005, President José Eduardo dos Santos visited Israel.

The Israeli government gave aid to the FNLA between 1963 and 1969, during Angola's War of Independence (1961 to 1975). Holden Roberto, the head of the National Front for the Liberation of Angola, visited Israel during the 1960s, and FNLA members were sent to Israel for training. During the 1970s the Israeli government shipped arms to the FNLA through Zaire.[2]
