Angangueo is a municipality in the Mexican state of Michoacán.

Angangueo is located at the east of Michoacán, 33 km from Zitácuaro. It is located at an altitude of 2.628 meters. Above sea level, the climate is mild and is surrounded by forests of pines and oaks Oyamel

If you take federal highway # 15 Mexico - Morelia. It is located at 34 km. Zitácuaro for by the diversion of the San Felipe alzati.

If you take the super-highway Morelia Mexico-Guadalajara. It is located 40 km from the freeway, exit at Maravatio and continues to Irimbo and take the diversion to Aporo.[1]

Angangueo has an area of 85.64 Km2 accounting for 0.14 percent of total state

Population in the year 2000 was 10 287 people.

The town was founded in the 17th century when a mine was discovered, this causing the migration of many people to this place to work in mines, and also moved traders to supply the needs of the newly discovered mineral and prosperous.[2]

The mines were operated by Spanish, German, English, French and Americans.

Because of the high economic growth that occurred in the village and to cover the needs of transportation to places of ore smelting, June 24, 1887, was conducted the building of the Railway Station, which connects Angangueo with Maravatio and Zitácuaro

The main economic activities are the tourism of the monarca butterfly, trade of handcrafts and agriculture.[3]
