The Andromeda Heights album was released in 1997 by the band Prefab Sprout and produced by Paddy McAloon and recorded by Calum Malcolm
[edit] Overview
The production style and pacing of the album is a fairly strong departure from their previous works, especially Swoon and Steve McQueen. The liners notes do list a thank you to previous Prefab Sprout producer Thomas Dolby for "his encouragement and advice". This album's sound is akin in tone to the later works (post Painting It Red) of the Beautiful South with warm full tones and a more relaxed feel.
The liner notes state that the music was performed by the 'Andromeda Heights Orchestra', which is essentially Prefab Sprout with additional accompaniment. Original Sprout drummer Neil Conti does not appear, and is replaced by Paul Smith.
