Andrew Jacobs, Jr.

Andrew Jacobs, Jr. usually known as Andy Jacobs (born February 24, 1932) was a lawyer, Indiana state legislator and Congressman for thirty years. His father, Andrew Jacobs, was also a Congressman.
He was born in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, and graduated from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, in 1949; and Indiana University in 1955, where he also received an LL.B. in 1958. He served in the United States Marine Corps 1950–1952.
He served as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives, 1959–1960; and then elected as a Democrat in the gigantic Democratic landslide of 1964. He was reelected three more times, but lost a bid for a fifth term in 1972 to future Indianapolis Mayor Billy Hudnut in a giant Republican landslide. However, he defeated Hudnut in a 1974 rematch and served 10 more terms until his retirement in 1997.
Jacobs is currently a working author. His most recent book is The 1600 Killers.
