Altair 1 is the current designation for the first Altair Lunar lander that will be launched on the second Ares V rocket into low earth orbit. It will be later joined by the Orion 13 capsule and will perform the first lunar fly-by of the Constellation program.
Altair 1 is currently scheduled to take place in December 2018. An unmanned lunar landing by the Altair 1 lander is currently not planned.[1][2]
