Alta Vista Public School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board elementary school in the Alta Vista neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It first opened its doors to the community in 1949.

At present, 600 students are enrolled at this triple-track school. The school offers the regular English Program (JK-8), the Early French Immersion Program (SK-8), and the Late French Immersion Program (Grade 7 & 8). Students may also be involved in a variety of clubs and sports outside of the regular program, and in the Student Ambassadors, a program much like a leadership program.

Alta Vista has two gyms: the Mr. J. Gym, dedicated to a former teacher at Alta Vista, and the Martin Pelton Gym, dedicated to one of the former principals. The school also has a fully equipped science room.

The Grade 7-8 English teachers at Alta Vista are: Chris Seeley (art and health), Sandy Walker (mathematics, physical education and science), Lia Rizzi (core French), Peter Knight (English), and Michael Yates (music).

Alta Vista is one of the three schools that offer a music strings program; the others are Lisgar Collegiate Institute and Canterbury High School. Michael Yates is the teacher and conductor of the strings orchestra.

Alta Vista has multifarious culture and is one of the friendliest schools in Ottawa (quoted by Barbara Campbell, the school principal).

Graduating students attend a number of high schools including Hillcrest, Brookfield, Canterbury, Ridgemont, and the Ottawa Technical Learning Centre.
