Alonso Miguel de Tobar

Alonso Miguel de Tobar (1678-1758) was a Spanish painter of the late-Baroque or Rococo period.
Born in the village of la Higuera near Aracena. As a young man he was a pupil de Juan Antonio Fajardo in Seville. In painting, he followed the style of Murillo. He was named pintor de cámara to King Felipe IV in April 1729, taking the place of Teodoro Ardemans. Alonso was known as a portrait painter. He painted a canvas of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo in 1720 for a church in Seville. He returned to Madrid in 1734, where he died.
