Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson is one of the Tuskegee Airmen, the 332nd Fighter Group. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. His book, "Red Tail Captured, Red Tail Free: The Memoirs of a Tuskegee Airman and Pow," is an excellent personal memoir of the literature of those who served America so well in World War II and after.
On March 29, 2007, Jefferson attended a ceremony in the U.S. Capitol rotunda, where he and the other surviving veterans of the Tuskegee Airmen (and their widows) were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of their service[1].
