Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace (pronounced /æʃliːn hɔrɡən wɒlɪs/) (born December 28, 1978 in London) is a British glamour model, television personality and fashion designer. She first became known in 2006 when she appeared on the seventh series of Big Brother in the UK in which she placed third.

[edit] Early life

Aisleyne's mother Sophia Horgan, a fashion designer and her father Steve Wallace, a car dealer, split when she was three years old.[1] She was raised by her mother in North London.[2] She moved schools several times due to clashes with fellow pupils.[2] At the age of 16, Aisleyne stopped living with her mother and stayed with friends before moving to a women's hostel.[2][3] She was reunited with her father at the age of 18 after he managed to track her down.[4]

It was reported that Aisleyne had won a Prince's Trust grant to take a beauty therapy course at college, and that she had jobs in shoe shops and as a promotions girl.[2] Her official biography states that she studied at the London College of Fashion and took part-time promotional jobs to help fund her education. In the summer of 2005, she spent £4,000 on a boob operation to help her career.[5][6]

[edit] Big Brother

Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace entered the Big Brother house on Day 12 as a prize during the "Meal or No Meal" task.[7] While in the house she clashed with fellow housemates Nikki Grahame and Grace Adams-Short.[8][9][10] On Day 44, she was voted by the public to move into the House Next Door to join five new housemates.[11][12] During her stay Next Door, she had to evict four of her new housemates.[13] However three of them moved into the main house and only one of them was actually evicted.[14]

On Day 93, she left the house with 22% of the vote to win.[15] She was the highest placed female housemate of the series.[16]

During Big Brother 7, via the official Channel 4 (Eve Community) Big Brother Forums, an Aisleyne appreciation society known as FAKERS, evolved. This is documented on Aisleyne’s official web site in the section: “About the FAKERS“, and along with a similar society on Digital Spy (Team Aisleyne), gave rise to a rush of popularity for Aisleyne. It was reported that this popularity left the Big Brother bosses in a panic. A show insider claimed that the producers had planned to engineer who would make it into the final and did not expect the swing in public support for Aisleyne.[17] The FAKERS (Fans of Aisleyne, Keeping 'Er Real Society), are now an integral part of Aisleyne’s web site.

[edit] Modelling

Prior to entering the house Aisleyne had worked as a glamour model. Since leaving the house she has done shoots with Nuts, Zoo and the Daily Star.[18] In 2007, she shot her first calendar.[19]

[edit] Television work

Since leaving the house in 2006, Horgan-Wallace has worked steadily in the television industry. In 2007, she appeared in three episodes of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe. She has also presented for shows such as T4.

She appeared in BBC1's Test The Nation, on a team with several other Big Brother housemates.[20] She also made a small appearance on The Charlotte Church Show. In March 2008 she was interviewed on Nuts TV

She appeared in several episodes of the Red TV series "Celebrity: Stars at Work" aired in December 2007 and January 2008.[21]

In 2008, Aisleyne signed a one series contract with Red TV to film a self titled, fly-on-the-wall documentary Aisleyne. She started filming in January 2008. The first episode was aired on Wednesday 5th March 2008, and subsequent episodes will follow every couple of weeks.[22][23]

In June 2008, Aisleyne made a guest appearance on a special edition of The Friday Night Project which aired after the launch of Big Brother's ninth series.[24] Her contributions to the show included a sketch which mocked her rivalry with former housemate Nikki Grahame.[25]

[edit] Philanthropy

Horgan-Wallace is a patron of Brain Tumour UK[26] and is an ambassador for Club4Climate, an initiative based around parties in London's West End and elsewhere that aims to prevent climate change.[27][28]
In 2007, Aisleyne completed a 10 kilometre run to raise money for Brain Tumour UK, and she will be attempting to complete the same event this year on July 6th (see her JustGiving page).
She has been involved with the NHS Stop Smoking campaign in association with Cancer Research UK,[29] and has given her support to No Smoking Day 2008[30]. She also became involved in the "Put the Knives and Guns Down!" campaign encouraging teenagers to get off the streets and stop the rising number of British shootings and stabbings.

[edit] Other work

After Big Brother, Aisleyne appeared as a guest DJ in nightclubs. She has also hosted a show for the online radio station, Invincible,[31] been a guest commentator on BBC's Asian Network[32] and made three guest appearances on Choice FM's 'Morning Vybe' show.[20]

In 2006, she had a small part in the film Rollin' with the Nines.[33][34]

She worked as an agony aunt for More magazine[35] and wrote a weekly column for Reveal magazine covering Big Brother 8 as well as a daily blog on their website. She reprised this role for the programme's ninth series.[36]

In September 2007, it was announced that she had taken control of her own career via her management company, Aisleyne Ltd, along with co-director Richard Skeels.

On February 10, 2008 Aisleyne released a fashion range named "Unique by Aisleyne". She worked with the "high-end" fashion distributors Unique Collections Ltd, to design and produce the outfits. A complementary swimwear range was launched a few weeks later.[37]

It was announced on April 24, 2008, that Mainstream Publishing had bought the right to publish her autobiography, entitled Witness:Surviving Guns, Gangs and Glamour. Aisleyne's management have stated on her official site it is due for release in spring 2009.[38]

She has also revealed that she is in talks about a part in a new film and has plans to launch a promotions agency.[39]
