Defunct Airlines WikiProject

It wasn't the engines that had frozen which caused the Air Florida crash. It was ice build up on the airframe itself, due to extreme lag between the routine deicing and takeoff. Additionally, the pitot tube (small tube extending from the body of the airplane for the purpose of determining aircraft airspeed) was blocked due to the ice, and thus the pilots did not have proper airspeed indication.

Who bought Air Florida? Midwest Express [1]? or Midway Airlines?.

I'd like to see Howard Stern's comments stay in. I think they're a notable part of the accident, albeit a bit morbid. Thoughts? —Cliffb 03:52, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
