Airport is a terminus station of the Green line of the Tyne and Wear Metro that serves Newcastle Airport, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Services towards Sunderland via Newcastle upon Tyne city centre operate between the hours of 0500 and 2300 daily, with a journey time to Newcastle's Central Station of around 20 minutes and to Sunderland city centre in about 50 minutes.

Officially, the station is known as Airport and not Newcastle Airport. Airport station consists of an island platform, with a walkway connecting it directly to the airport terminal building. The station was not part of the original Metro network, but the station appeared on a preliminary map entitled "Possible extensions to the Metro system" in 1978, and again in a revised map in 1979.

The Airport extension was opened in 1991 and cost £12 million^[1]. Before the Metro was finally extended to Airport, passengers had to alight at Bank Foot and take the M77 shuttle bus to the airport. The bus service was withdrawn when the extension was opened.

As well as Airport, Callerton Parkway was built for a new 1 Zone shuttle service to Airport. Passengers can park their cars and ride on Metro to the Airport in one go. A single adult ticket is £1.30. A return ticket is £2.20 before 9:00 AM and £1.80 after 9:00 AM.
