Talk:Aino Kallas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] the cite does not even references aino
the citation is bogus... it only talks about rand and the possibility of a name, there is no relationship there. --Buridan 16:10, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, here's what you removed, labeling it "original research" in the edit summary:
- ==Influential ==
- Influential American novelist [[Ayn Rand]] stated that her first name ''Ayn'' was an adaptation of a female Finnish name,<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.aynrand.org/site/PageServer?pagename=about_ayn_rand_faq_index2#ar_q3b|title="What is the origin of "Rand"?"|accessdate=2006-03-28}}</ref> possibly that of Kallas'.<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.noblesoul.com/orc/bio/biofaq-notes.html | title=Ayn Rand Biographical FAQ (Notes) | work=Objectivism Reference Center | date=2006-07-10 |accessdate=2007-04-18}}</ref>
Now, my question is this: whose original research is it? Otheus 20:40, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
if there is no clear citable relationship that says rand claimed that she was referring to aino, then it is just original research, and at worst fiction. if we can't find a direct inference between person a, and person b, then there is no relationship. that ARI says x is related to y because y referred to a series of names in which x is included, then there is still no relationship between x vs y, it is just ARI making spurious arguments. --Buridan 00:20, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- In the reference Rand clearly states that she is refering to "Aino". Which Finnish writer she is refering to is a different question. The fact is that there are very few Finnish female writers name "Aino" who had built a reputation by the time Ayn Rand took her name. -- Petri Krohn 02:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
