I don't know anything about writing articles for Broadway shows, so maybe it's just an idiosyncrasy in the category, but I find the song titles in parentheses to be weird. Is it intentional, or are they actually supposed to be in brackets ([[ ]]) to make them into links? The songs are in () to tell you which song is going on in that time of the story. Rather, what song that lets you know what's going on. -broadwayblonde

Yeah, but there are some continuity issues. I've seen some plot synopses where they capitalize the song titles. I think that would be better and when the song title fits into the sentence the parenthesis aren't needed. I'm going to make those changes. If it pisses anyone off too much they can change it. It's just a minor thing and it'll make the synopsis (which is very well-written, props to whoever wrote it) a little more readable. Lmr5069 03:51, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello - I'm the one who put the song titles in the parentheses. The synopsis had seemed to be lifted entirely off http://www.theatre-musical.com/aida/synopsis.html, so I put the songs in where that website said the songs went. I double checked the accuracy using the libretto, the link to which I posted at the bottom. Fortune Favors the Brave (Reprise) was not on the theatre-musical site, but it was in the libretto, so I added it. I hope it helped, but feel free to change it if you think it looks weird. I've never edited Wikipedia before.

I don't know what to sign off as, so I'll just say "Anonymous".

The plot synopsis appears to have been entirely lifted from [1]. I'm removing it from the page; it will remain in the page history if someone wants to attempt to get permission to use it. Just in regards to the Amateur Productions section - is it really necessary to list every association and high school that has made an amateur production of the musical? Amateur productions of musicals are quite a common thing, and have no association to the original production - except for the score, so is it really necessary to list so many high schools and drama clubs on the list? A few would suffice...

The entire list of cities and venues is not noteworthy, lends little to this article, and is considered advertising (which is not what Wikipedia is all about). The list was correctly removed previously and has been added back in by 128.42.152.232. That person must justify why the list should be there, or it should be removed. I will check back in one week (April 19, 2007) and if no justification is given, the list will be removed and a summary statement of the tour, including start/end dates and number of cities will replace it. No justification was given for the list of cities being noteworthy, therefore it has been removed and a summary statement has been added in its place, in accordance with Wikipedia policies. Image:Aida broadway poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

[edit] All Music Is Ethnic Music

Can we rewrite that sentence toward the end of the article that reads: "Probably the nearest stylistic parallel to the work as a whole is Elton John's The Lion King, another musical with strong ethnic elements." ??? Don't all musicals have ethnic elements? There is no "neutral" ethnicity and every musical is about some culture. In context, the person who wrote this sentence seemed to be using "ethnic elements" as some kind of euphemism for African elements; I think we can safely change this sentence without changing the spirit of what the original author intended. 75.165.62.36 (talk) 06:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)itmeantnothing
