[edit] Lack of ambition

The following is not discribed: Senegalese people are less eager to get out of poverty then in other countries (e.g. DR Congo), witch explains why for example they do not search for other (more expensive) food to be grown instead, avoiding to battle cheap imported products (although lack of schooling can be a factor in this) or why they do not search for an imployment in an other career. It This information comes mentioned by many NGO's. They say that "when the money runs dry, most (Senegalese) just stop working, while in DR Congo they carry on". A source still needs to be found (read it in newspaper clipping).

[edit] Temperate crops for a tropical country

As allot of the crops come from temperate regions, one wonders if it's not better to grow different crops, and develop a different (less european) cooking style than too carry on growing unsuitable crops to the region. But, the countries' economy prevents that from happening (easily). NGO's and humanitarian assistance should focus on this, instead of giving food for free. They should focus on learning them how to fish, instead of giving them the fish.

[edit] Exported Cherry Tomatoes

I'm looking to find where the cherry tomatoes in the UK supermarkets from Senegal come from, and what is the supply chain?
