Afronum

Afronum is an Information technology development project in rural areas of West Africa (currently Senegal, Mali is in preparation). It uses the Ubuntu.

Afronum has intended to open a network school in Dakar for 2008, which will mainly train on Ubuntu and network configuration. The basic need for the area is to strengthen the communication possibilities by avoiding the high costs of the major software companies.

The base of the project is Dakar, Senegal, and the goal is to establish sister projects in the area, all having in focus EPT Afronum (Ecole Professionelle de Telecommunication), which will be operating with the same concept in all schools, to be built in major cities of West Africa (French and English speaking countries alike).
