"Carcinogen Crush" Released: December 4, 2007

The tenth EP by AFI is scheduled for release on June 24, 2008 by Interscope Records and Tiny Evil. Currently, only one song from the EP can be heard: "Carcinogen Crush", which was a bonus track on the 2007 music video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, and released as the band's thirteenth single on December 4, 2007. The EP will contain previously unreleased songs from the Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground sessions.

Originally thought to be set for a December 2007 release, a December 31, 2007 interview with vocalist Davey Havok and guitarist Jade Puget stated that the EP was never scheduled for release that December. Davey announced through the Despair Faction forums that it would not be available until early 2008. Drummer Adam Carson later announced more details regarding the EP, saying that some of the songs will be new and have never been heard of before, some of the songs may have heard before (such as "Carcinogen Crush"), and some of the songs fans may know about but have never heard before. The finalized track listing was confirmed by guitarist Jade Puget on April 14, 2008, on the official AFI message board and his own personal blog.

Allegedly, the band initially planned to title two songs on the EP as "Suicide Romantic" and "Chair Kicking", but when the track listing reflecting this was revealed on an AFI fansite it became the subject of criticism by the band's fanbase, particularly because of these two titles. When the finalized track listing was officially confirmed by Puget, "Suicide Romantic" and "Chair Kicking" had been replaced with "Fainting Spells" and "The View from Here". It was later announced that changes to the track listing were cosmetic only, and resulted only from the retitling of songs which fans deemed to imply inappropriate themes.^[1]

"Ether", a song from the EP, will be featured on the soundtrack for the 2008 video game NASCAR 09.^[2]

• "100 Words" and "Carcinogen Crush" were originally recorded during the Sing The Sorrow sessions, though due to Interscope purchasing the band's then-record label, DreamWorks Records, the versions which will appear on the EP are re-recordings from the Decemberunderground sessions.
