Aethlon Medical Inc., (OTCBB: AEMD), public company based in San Diego, California and trades over-the-counter on the OTCBB under the ticker symbol "AEMD." James A. Joyce is the Chairman and CEO, while Dr. Harold Handley is the current President of the organization.
The company won a Frost and Sullivan 2006 Innovation award for its Hemopurifier Technology. Hemopurifier technology has potential applications as a counter to bioterrorism. It is also being tested in India as a treatment for Dengue fever and was recently shown to remove exosomes from the blood which may improve some types of cancer treatments. The hemopurifier is a device that resembles a dialysis cartridge but instead of removing nitrogenous bybroducts filters out viruses and exosomes by affinity factors.
