Adriano Cavalcanti is the founder and chairman of the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN). He has developed in the last years several joint projects focused on medical nanorobots research. Some studies conducted by Cavalcanti and his colleagues, showed for the first time how to apply nanorobots for cardiology, cancer and diabetes, using integrated nanoelectronics for sensing and actuation, detecting thermo and chemical signals released from inside a patient's body as a suitable way for the control of nanorobots. Due his teamwork spirit and wide vision, his initiative and scientific works are recognized internationally in the scientific nanotechnology community. He is also a reviewer of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics and IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering.
