Adolfo Veber Tkalčević (Bakar, 11th May 1825 - Zagreb, 6th August 1889), Croatian philologue, writer and critic.

He received degrees in philosophy in Zagreb, theology in Budapest and Slavistics in Vienna.

He has continued to the basis of the Illyrian movement, Vjekoslav Babukić and Antun Mažuranić,but he separated himself from Gaj's attempts inconnecting to Vuk Karadžić .He was important as one of the storytellers which has, in the middle of the 9th century , broken the practice in Turkish novelas and romantic prose bringing the realistic elements in Croatian litterature. His essayistic attitudes with an classicistic background made and influence into his works as philologue and many solutions in normization of Croatian language.

He was an author of first syntax of Croatian litteral language "Skladanja ilirskog jezika" ("Composing the Illyric language" ) published 1859 in Vienna. He wrote couple school textbooks and wrote grammars of Croatian and latin language for high schools. His "Slovnica hrvatska" dated 1871. has been used as high-school book , and as a norm and codification of standard language in that era. The defence of Illyric attitudes anbout language was published by him in "Vienac" in 1884 under the title "Brus jezika ili zagrebačka škola". After Babukić and Antun Mažuranić, he becomes the leader of Zagreb philologue school
