Abyysky Ulus (Russian: Абыйский улус) is an ulus (district) in the northern section of the Sakha Republic, Russia, centered around the Indigirka River. It borders Allaikhovsky Ulus in the north, Srednekolymsky Ulus in the east, Verkhnekolymsky Ulus in the south-east, Momsky Ulus in the south, and Ust-Yansky Ulus in the west. The administrative center of the ulus is the settlement of Belaya Gora.
The ulus has a surface area of 69,400 km² and has been suffering a steady decline in the number of its inhabitants. In 1989, the ulus still had 6,097 inhabitants, whereas in 1995, it only had 5,900 inhabitants[1]. By 2002, the population had dwindled down to 4,750.
Abyysky Ulus is divided into one settlement and five naslegs, which comprise a total of six rural localities.[2] The main forms of business are reindeer husbandry and fishing.[1]
