The A5 highway (Croatian: Autocesta A5) is a highway in eastern Croatia, in the Slavonia. It is part of the Corridor Vc. The first section of the highway was opened in November of 2007, from Sredanci (connecting to A3 highway) to Đakovo (21 km).[1] Another section, from Đakovo to Osijek, which is 31.5 km long, is planned to be open in 2008.

Once fully completed, the A5 will provide a direct route from northern Slavonia and southern Hungary to A3 highway, which forms a part of the heavily used Corridor X. This highway is also significant as a part of Corridor Vc. When Bosnia and Herzegovina completes its part of the corridor, Slavonia will be connected to southern Dalmatia by a highway-level direct link instead of using the current routing via Zagreb. Also, a major Croatian city Osijek will gain international importance and a fast connection to Zagreb. One of the most important parts of the highway is the A3-A5 interchange Sredanci between Corridors Vc and X.

This highway is nickamed Slavonika, since it spans Slavonia from North to South.[2]
