A10 motorway (Netherlands)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The A10 motorway is a motorway in The Netherlands. This motorway is the ringroad around Amsterdam.
The motorway has a length of 32 km. Four other motorways connect to the A10. Motorway A8 at junction 'Coenplein', A4 at junction 'De Nieuwe Meer', A2 at junction 'Amstel' and A1 at junction 'Watergraafsmeer'.
Construction started in 1962, the first part was completed four years later. The Coentunnel was opened on June 21, 1966. The western part of the A10 (the Einsteinweg) was finished April 2, 1975. The southern part on July 7, 1981 and the eastern and northern part in 1990 with the completion of another tunnel under 'het IJ', the Zeeburgertunnel.
The city of Amsterdam has a network of stadsroutes (city routes), most of which lead from an A10 exit towards the s100 city route in the center. Therefore, the A10 motorway does not use classic exit numbers, but only refers to the number of the connecting city roads (s101 through s118).
