Yep, you're right. This is normal behaivour for the bot, as to reduce the size of the edit page for those with slower connections, it puts days over a certain age onto a subpage (Wikipedia:Reference desk/Archives/Science/2006 November 16) and then transcludes it on the main desk page, so you still see an up to date version of the page there, just from a different location. Similarly, edits made to an "old" day are saved to the sub-page. I hope this clears it up for you - if you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer Martinp23 00:35, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I understand the problem. It's something that has been posed to me before by other users, but as it involves a change the to the archival system as a whole, it requires consensus, which could not be found at the last discussion. If you wish, you can take up the problem at WT:RD by leaving a new message. As far as I'm concerned, it's a fairly minor change to the code to make the tranclusion on the same day of the archives for the popular desks, but I'm not willing to make such a change until I have a consensus on the RD talk page (to avoid any problems with "the bot not working" etc !) . I'm sorry I can't be of more help (but you could suggest on the talk page that there be a link to the archive page at the top of each date section- an idea) - Martinp23 00:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
