[edit] Cichlid 23 June 2006

Please stop your reverting of the Cichlid page. The comments on the external link to Fishbase may or may not be accurate, but they are not appropriate for a Wikipedia article. Neil916 15:07, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you.Neil916 16:26, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future.

[edit] Cichlid 24 June 2006

I see we're going to play this game again. Once again, to reiterate: Wikipedia is not a place to add reviews or commentary about external websites. Please stop your malicious reverts to the Cichlid page, it is considered vandalism. If you disagree, feel free to discuss it on the article's talk page, where there is already a section at the bottom regarding your edits. Thank you. Neil916 19:20, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism, and if you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thank you. Neil916 20:13, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Please do not make this assertion again without a reliable source for the information. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 21:50, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cichlid 25 June 2006

I removed the commentry re: fishbase yet again this morning. Please do not continue to add commentry to external links. Wikipedia is not a website review. MidgleyDJ 00:49, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
User 69.232.73.33 has reverted the commentary yet again. Added a temporary request to the links section. MidgleyDJ 01:36, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User notice: temporary 3RR block

[edit] Regarding reversions[1] made on June 25, 2006 (UTC) to Cichlid

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future.
The duration of the block is 24 hours. William M. Connolley 18:40, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleting content (Tigerfish)

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to Tigerfish. If you have a reason for your deletions, please discuss it on the article's talk page. Also, please use edit summaries to explain your edits Thank you. Fairsing 04:03, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cichlid Maylandia vs Metriaclima

Maylandia vs Metriaclima (in Cichlid).

The list of cichlid genera is compiled with fishbase.org as a reference. Whilst there is some who are debating the priority of Maylandia it is best included in the Maylandia page (rather than the cichlid page).

Please do not revert Maylandia to Metriaclima - or at least discuss this issue on the articles discussion page.

User continues to revert cichlid to "Metriaclima" (a junior synonym in fishbase.org).

Discussion of the Maylandia vs Metriaclima debate is on Maylandia. MidgleyDJ 23:07, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] unexplained edits

Hello. When you make changes to specific details of articles, such as [2], [3], and [4], please always try to provide some reason for the change. Depending on the circumstances, this may require the addition of a citation or a message on the article's talk page, but in all cases you should use a descriptive edit summary.

I have reverted the first two edits that I listed above. On the first, I understand that Cyphotilapia gibberosa is a newly discovered subset of Cyphotilapia frontosa, but merely changing one occurrence of the name does nothing to improve the article. In the second, in addition to changing the caption of the image, you changed the file name of the image, which caused the image to no longer be displayed. Regards ×Meegs 19:58, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Meegs, I'm not sure user: 69.232.73.33 reads this page. He or she makes virtually all of their edits without explanation. Certainly that's my experience on cichlid and Maylandia. MidgleyDJ 21:30, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I do notice that they have never edited this or any other talk page. They consistently use this same IP address, though, and I would bet that they at least load this page to acknowledge the 'new messages' banner. In any case, to this anonymous contributor, please realize that Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and only functions when editors communicate with each other, if only to express disagreement. ×Meegs 22:00, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Also, before making any additional edits on on the Metriaclima issue, please join the discussion at Talk:Maylandia. Thanks. ×Meegs 22:13, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please use edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Neil916 00:11, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unexplained edits to Endangered species

You removed the asian arowana from the article on endangered species. The IUCN red list (referenced in the asian arowana article) specifies that as of 2006, this species is endangered. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. Neil916 00:11, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unexplained edits to Halfbeak

The original photographer who supplied the halfbeak photograph specified that the fish was 4cm long. You changed the caption to 10cm without comment. Please do not deliberately introduce incorrect information into articles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Neil916 00:15, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Last warning

OK, this is your last warning. Further unexplained bad edits will result in a long-term block of all editing. Stan 12:12, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop your anti-social wiki editing.

Thank you.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.0.253.29 (talkcontribs) 19:29, 19 July 2006 (UTC-7)

[edit] Blocked

You are blocked from editing for the next three days for continued edit warring and refusing to discuss or explain your edits in any way. We appreciate your contributions, but if you will not discuss controversial issues with other editors on article talk pages and user talk pages, then you are not helping the project to move forward. This includes, but is not limited to, the Metriaclima issue. You are welcome to edit when your block expires, but if you resume your old editing patterns, you will be reblocked for a period of weeks or months. ×Meegs 21:44, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
