User talk:69.143.113.32

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Talk:Orgasm. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Gwernol 01:02, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

The problem is other people have added their comments onto the conversation you started. You shouldn't remove other editors' comments without their permission. If you just removed your own comment you'd leave the rest of the conversation without context; doing this would be very confusing for readers of the page in the future.
The best thing to do is just leave the talk page as it is. Putting a {{prod}} notice on the entire talk page is definitely a bad idea since it would remove all the edits on that page, as well as other useful notices. I honestly don't think your message on the talk page was that bad, and it isn't worth worrying over, especially as you are editing from a dynamic IP that changes over time.
Finally, as a side note, when you added your message to my talk page, you overwrote an existing message from another editor. Please try to avoid doing this - again its a bad idea to erase the contributions of others. Good luck, Gwernol 02:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I figured the removal of the earlier comment was accidental, don't worry about it.
The reason we keep everything is that all edits here are licensed under the GFDL. This is critical to allowing anyone to contribute and anyone to use the encyclopedia. It also means that once you have made a contribution it is no longer yours, it belongs to the encyclopedia. If you're uncomfortable with this you are under no obligation to edit, but we welcome everyone's contributions and I hope you decide to stay and help build the encyclopedia. Its really not Big Brother at work, its just the way things need to work. Good luck, Gwernol 02:52, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
